AFGE Local 2338 Supports February Awareness: Celebrating Legacy, Protecting Health, and Empowering Youth

π€ Black History Month
This month honors the deep legacy, triumphs, and ongoing contributions of Black Americans in shaping U.S. history. It’s a time to uplift voices, educate our communities, and recognize the pursuit of equity and justice. AFGE stands firmly in solidarity with the movement for Black excellence and representation β past, present, and future.
American Heart Month
Heart disease remains the #1 cause of death in the U.S. February pushes awareness on prevention, education, and lifestyle changes that save lives. Through early detection, healthier habits, and proper care, we help protect the people powering our communities. AFGE encourages members to know their numbers, move their bodies, and protect their hearts.
National Cancer Prevention Month
Not all battles are visible. This month is about shining light on the power of prevention: screenings, healthy living, and early intervention. Whether itβs through better food choices, avoiding tobacco, or getting routine checkups, we can reduce risk and support each other in the fight against cancer.
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
Teen relationships can be complex β and sometimes dangerous. This month brings awareness to emotional, physical, and digital abuse among youth. AFGE stands with parents, educators, and teens to encourage healthy communication, boundaries, and early support. Education now prevents trauma later.
